In September 2025, the Rotaract Club of Kandy achieved a transformative milestone in community service with the successful execution of “Project Flowing Hope Phase I.” This initiative was designed to address one of the most fundamental human needs— access to clean water—specifically targeting the student population at K/Mawussawa Kanishta Vidyalaya. The project was a masterclass in collaborative service, brought to life through a strategic partnership with the Rotary Club of Kandy and supported by generous funding from the Rotary Club of Canterbury. Together, these organizations facilitated the donation and installation of a comprehensive water pump system valued at LKR 250,000. This investment was not merely in hardware, but in the health and long-term well-being of the school’s children. The impact of the donation was immediate and historic, providing students with safe drinking water on school premises for the very first time. Before this intervention, the lack of a reliable water source posed significant challenges to daily operations and student hygiene. The success of the project was most vividly captured in the genuine smiles of the students as they finally had the simple yet profound ability to sip clean water at school. For the Rotaract Club of Kandy, this milestone serves as a powerful reminder of the tangible change that dedicated service can achieve. While Phase I is complete, “Flowing Hope” is far from finished. The club remains committed to securing essential resources for communities in need, ensuring that this project is just the beginning of a larger movement to provide essential amenities and promote rural wellbeing across the region.
