යමන් බන්දෝ වෙසක් බලන්ද (Yaman Bando Vesak Balanda) was organized as a cultural and fellowship initiative with the objective of promoting cultural appreciation, interfaith understanding, and member engagement through one of Sri Lanka’s most cherished Vesak traditions: Vesak street visits. Held on May 30th, 2026, following the club’s Chai Dansala project, the activity gave members—particularly those from non-Buddhist backgrounds—an opportunity to experience the traditions, values, and community spirit associated with Vesak celebrations firsthand. The group set out at 6:00 PM from Ampitiya Town and walked along the Ampitiya–Kandy road, one of the most vibrant Vesak routes in the hill capital during the festive season. Along the way, members observed lanterns, pandals, illuminated displays, and religious observances organised by local communities, while engaging in thoughtful discussions about the history and cultural significance of the festival. Vesak, which commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing Away of Lord Buddha, has long been celebrated through the tradition of Vesak Balima, where families and communities come together in a spirit of peace, generosity, and harmony. By bridging service and cultural learning, the project strengthened fellowship within the club while fostering mutual respect across religious and cultural backgrounds. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kandy, යමන් බන්දෝ වෙසක් බලන්ද reinforced the club’s commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and meaningful member engagement beyond formal meetings and project deployments.
